5 Tips to Prepare You For Your Next Photoshoot

It’s easy to get caught up in your own thoughts and think you are “awkward” if you haven’t gotten the right tools for your upcoming photo session. As a photographer that focuses on capturing real moments and authenticity in my clients, the number one thing I want from you is for you to feel COMFORTABLE and RELAXED.

Here are FIVE TIPS to prepare you for your upcoming photoshoot so you feel your absolute best 🤓

1: Choose the Right Outfit

Leading up to the shoot, I want you to find something to wear that makes you feel INCREDIBLE. This little boost of confidence is going to impact your mindset before you step in front of the camera. This could be a piece already in your closet or something new that makes you feel like a million bucks!

2: Communicate With Your Photographer

COMMUNICATION with your photographer is a no-brainer, however it’s extremely important to be open and honest! If you have any insecurities, a “good side” or anything you know you want to avoid, let us know before!

3: Calm Your Nerves

Do something that helps calm your nerves prior to the session. This could be having a date before the shoot, giving yourself plenty of time to get ready, or treating yourself to your favourite meal/snack. Again, we’re looking to boost our mindset for the better! 🙌🏻

4: Trust the Process

TRUST the photographer. We’re a great team and I promise you, I will never ask you to do anything you’re uncomfortable with and only what I think will look best for YOU.

5: Let Me See Them Hands

Hand placement: if you’re unsure where to put your hands or it feels like you need to do something with them before I make mention of it, grabbing onto your clothing, your hair, your partners/family’s hands, or even a prop (think umbrella, flower, hat) can help you feel more natural. When our hands have something to do, we feel less awkward!

It’s so common to feel this way and is the number 1 comment I get from my clients. You’ve got this, and I’m with you every step of the way 🫶

Have there been any tips you’ve heard to help you feel less “awkward” and more confident in front of the camera? Let me know in the comments!
